Josep Cerdà and Pablo Torre were on post-match media duties after our 2-0 defeat to Granada CF. Find out what the pair had to say about the performance, goals and what is next.  

Josep Cerdà

On the game:

I think we started the first half well. We had more possession, we started to move the ball around and we created chances, but then they scored against us and we weren’t able to turn the match around.

On his debut:

A bitter debut. I was really looking forward to playing in this shirt and it’s a real shame we couldn’t take all three points from here.

On a controversial moment:

We were throwing everything at it, perhaps a bit more sloppy because we were going for the goal, and that really did end up doing us in a bit. The move came from a corner and the referee blew his whistle just then. Some players stopped in their tracks and, well, there was a rebound and it went in.

Pablo Torre

On the game: 

I think we started the match quite well, with the aim of playing in the opposition’s half and creating chances both out wide and through the middle. Adri had two good opportunities. After that, through a few counter-attacks and some long balls, Granada caused us problems; they grew into the game and I don’t think we had the total control of the ball that we want to have, nor that patience from the back. We also struggled to find our forwards. Well, I think this is a new project; we have to keep training. We’re doing things right, and we need to stay calm and confident.

On a personal level:

The other day, physically, I think I was a bit off the pace, because during pre-season I’d only managed to play 60 minutes in one match. Ultimately, it’s all about racking up the minutes, and today I felt quite good. I could have carried on for a bit longer as well because I was feeling really good, but the manager decided to take me off. Some decisive players came on. Josep has been training very well and we have to keep going.

On controversy:

From the bench, I didn’t get a very clear view, but afterwards I was told that he blew his whistle when they took the corner and some players had stopped moving. Ultimately, it’s clear he made a mistake; there’s no doubt about it. He made a mistake and didn’t want to correct it. We all make mistakes, but you have to carry on. After all, we were also leading 1–0. We’d been playing for 70 minutes and hadn’t managed to score a goal, so we’ve got to take a look at ourselves as well.

On looking ahead:

From tomorrow, we’ll start preparing for Sunday’s match. We need to stay positive, remain confident and go for the three points – that’s what we’ll always do.
