Reaction from Luis García and John Chetauya after the win over Real Sociedad B
Luis García
Assessment of the match: I’m happy with the players’ effort. It was a difficult game, the kind of very demanding and competitive match you get in this division. Especially in the first half, we found it difficult to adjust both in and out of possession. The spaces we had were out wide, but we were trying to play through the middle. Those wide spaces also meant that whenever we lost the ball, we were punished in transition and it created uncertainty for us. I think we adjusted very well in the second half and found the spaces to attack much more effectively. And it’s true that in the second half it was clear that we went for the game. We responded really well after a first half that we weren’t happy with. The substitutes also gave us a huge boost and helped us win the match, so we’re very happy and very satisfied.
Importance of winning away: It’s key, especially because, as we said before the match, our home form alone won’t be enough. As well as being very strong at home, we also need to be a reliable team away from home, a team capable of picking up points and winning matches. I think we played a very good game, especially in the second half. We worked our way through it in the first half and then, in the second, we reaped the rewards of having managed the game well. The depth of our squad also made a difference, and we secured a victory that is very important for us, for our supporters and for our family.
Travelling supporters: They are hugely important. We’re very happy to be able to give them this win. I don’t think words are enough to thank our supporters for how much they push us and how much they help us. We feel them very close to us and they deserve absolutely everything. We play so they can feel proud of the players wearing their shirt and badge. Hopefully everyone who travelled has a safe journey home, and we’ll see them next week at Son Moix.
John Chetauya
Victory and debut: I’m very happy to have taken these three points and, on a personal level, I felt very good. I’m delighted to have been able to play and contribute my part to the work the whole team is doing. So I’m very happy.
The match: It was difficult. We knew they were a team that were very good in transition and I think we managed to stop those transitions well. We’re very happy to have won.
Importance of everyone for the upcoming matches: Like all of my teammates, I’m ready for whatever comes, ready to come on if the coach decides and to contribute my part.
