RCD Mallorca will welcome Calvià this Sunday, 27 September, as the club’s guest municipality for the match against UD Almería at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix, kicking off at 4:15pm.
Calvià follows Felanitx, which took part in the match against Real Valladolid on the opening matchday, as part of the Poble convidat initiative launched by the club this season to bring Mallorca’s different municipalities closer to the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix and showcase their culture, traditions and most representative elements on matchdays.
With Calvià’s visit, this will be the third home match this season in which RCD Mallorca has organised special initiatives to bring the island’s identity and culture closer to its supporters. In addition to Felanitx being the first guest municipality, the club also celebrated the Diada de Mallorca during the match against CE Sabadell.
On this occasion, supporters will be able to discover a representation of the Festes del Rei En Jaume, one of Calvià’s most emblematic celebrations, which every September commemorates in Santa Ponça the events surrounding Jaume I’s landing in Mallorca in 1229.
In the Fan Zone:
Between 3:00pm and 4:00pm, the Son Moix Fan Zone will host a series of performances by the Calvià delegation, featuring the Colla de Cavallers, the Colles d’Escamots, xeremiers, the Alli Oli and Berenguer Palou groups and the Colla de Geganters.
The representation will also feature two of the main historical figures from the Festes del Rei En Jaume. Óscar Blanco, in the role of Abu Yahya, and Mateu García, as Rei En Jaume, will perform a short dramatised scene to introduce supporters to the historical context of 13th-century Mallorca and the events surrounding the landing in Santa Ponça.
On the pitch:
Once the Fan Zone activities have finished, at around 4:05pm, the Calvià delegation will enter the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix and will be introduced to the supporters from the pitch ahead of the match.
In this way, RCD Mallorca continues to bring Son Moix closer to the municipalities across the island, while turning home matches into a space where Mallorca’s history, culture and traditions also play a prominent role.
