Match Report: Celta Vigo 2-0 RCD Mallorca

Iago Aspas scores two late goals as we suffer a frustrating loss away from home

Iago Aspas hit a late double salvo with five minutes left on the clock as we fell to a frustrating 2-0 defeat at Celta Vigo.

Jagoba Arraste returned Antonio Raillo to the starting XI following his injury as the captain partnered Martin Valjent in central defence.

Chances were few and far between in the first half as a routine stop for Leo Roman was the most action either goalkeeper would see with neither side able to create anything meaningful in the final third.

The second half read from the same script as the first as we looked to make progress down the flanks and feed Vedat Muriqi as the central figure in the box.

The hosts were awarded a penalty in the 83rd minute as Raillo was adjudged to have pushed Borja Iglesias in the box as substitute Aspas made no mistake from the penalty spot.

Borja Iglesias almost doubled their lead in the 90th minute when he flicked a loose ball towards goal which required an acrobatic goal line clearance from Pablo Maffeo.

Aspas added the second in the 95th minute when he found the bottom corner having been played through on goal as we headed back to the island empty handed.
