RCD Mallorca secured their third consecutive home victory of the season with a 2-0 win over CE Sabadell FC, thanks to a brace from Adrián Fuentes.
Luis García opted for a different formation from usual (3-5-2), with Abou Soumahoro coming into defence and Adrián Liso operating as the left wing-back. Arnau Tenas started in goal, with Martin Valjent and Antonio Raíllo completing the back line, while Miguel Calatayud played on the right. Manu Morlanes, Sergi Darder and Alex Sala formed the midfield, with Josep Cerdà and Fuentes leading the attack.
After an opening spell without a clear dominant side, and with CE Sabadell FC showing plenty of intent, RCD Mallorca found the breakthrough in the 10th minute. Tenas produced a perfectly weighted assist for Fuentes, who beat a defender in the race for the ball before lifting an excellent finish over Diego Fuoli.
In a game in which clear chances were limited and defensive solidity prevailed, Luis García’s side once again showed their efficiency in front of goal. In the 25th minute, Fuentes capitalised on an error from the visiting defence as they attempted to play the ball back to their goalkeeper. He rounded Fuoli before making it 2-0.
RCD Mallorca remained solid at the back against CE Sabadell FC’s attacks and came close to adding a third in the 43rd minute. A well-worked move created a numerical advantage in the opposition half before Sala played the ball to Liso, whose effort from inside the box was denied by a crucial intervention from Miki Codina.
In added time, the Catalan side caused a major scare with a shot from inside the area, but Tenas produced an excellent save to keep the visitors out.
In the second half, after making four changes at the break, CE Sabadell FC pushed forward in search of a goal. The visitors enjoyed more attacking situations, but Tenas and a strong collective defensive display prevented them from reducing the deficit.
As the minutes passed, RCD Mallorca gained greater control of the game and managed the advantage comfortably. The score remained unchanged, meaning the Mallorquinistas recorded their third win of the campaign and their fourth clean sheet.
