Vazquez: “justice has been served with the victory”

The manager praises the work and endeavour of the group and says that team always competes

Fernando Vazquez has cast away those shadows of the opening games of the championship and after this comforting win against Alcorcon has emphasize how fair it was to win today. He has hailed the hard work and endeavour of his group of footballers. The manager however has admitted that all could have changed should the rival have scored the penalty awarded. “Things could have twisted in a nasty way, but truth be told is that chances were made after that turning points but it takes us so much to convert them. We have suffered because at the beginning of the second half, it seemed that we were out of the game, but we have been able to get back on our feet and snatch those three points at stake.

The Galician gaffer pointed out that the team at defensive level was firm. The Culio yellow card in the first half and the muscular injury of Juan Rodriguez in the second have “given me a tactical headache”. On Lekic, “he can give us an extra edge as his profile is a different one to the one we have in the team, different from the other forwards. He’s improving by the day”.

When asked, Vazquez said he has not been nervous over the past few days about his potential sacking and assured that he takes decision “for the good of the team. I trust my players. We works towards the victory and we are doing well”. He hailed that “whataver we do, win or lose, the level is competitive and high”.

“I am happy with the work done and with my players. I have a great group of sportspeople and I am sure we will have a top finish”, he said. In fact, Vazquez also conceded that today’s victory will be rewarding as “winning is always helpful. We keep away fears and doubts are swept away. I would like for next game that on top of winning, we get a nice score, the group deserves that.”
