Report Mallorca B 2 - Platges de Calvià 1

Mallorca B proclaimed the day theirs, after overcoming Platges de Calvia two goals to one.

 

Under a cloudy sky at Son Bibiloni came a vital match for both teams. Mallorca B was presented with a must-win game in order to claim the championship, on the other hand, Platges de Calvia needed to win in order to stay alive in the fight against relegation.

 

It was an ordinary match that the locals controlled, while the visitors waited for a slip up. The most clear chances came on the quarter of the hour mark, when Calderon tested the goalkeeper from distance. Shortly after, Stephen kept pressuring, but did not find the Angel’s net. The clearest chance came to Platges de Calvia’s Jose, who managed a one on one with Benji, but sent the ball slightly wide.

 

After the break, Calderon and Stephen had chances, but did not move ahead on the scoreboard.

Already in the second half, the Mallorca “B” came out with an urge to win the match and claim the league championship, and Platges de Calvia seemed to be satisfied with a draw but would be equally comfortable with the former.

 

Javier Olaizola had chances on goal, Angel Sánchez with two headed attempts, managed to hit the post. After seeing the locals not fail to score first, the coach decided to take off Pep Vidal for Lima and create a defense of three to generate more offense.
