Match report: Real Madrid 4-1 RCD Mallorca

We suffer defeat in Madrid having taken the lead in the first half at the Santiago Bernabeu

We were unlucky to suffer a 4-1 defeat against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu after Vedat Muriqi gave us the lead in the first half.

Javier Aguirre handed his debut to new signing Matija Nastasić in central defence at the expense of Jose Copete, while Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta made his first start following a cruciate knee ligament injury.

With chances few and far between during the opening exchanges in the capital, we took the lead from a set-piece when Muriqi climbed highest to head home Kang-In Lee’s whipped free-kick.

The champions were level on the stroke of half-time when Fede Valverde carried the ball from his own half and found the top corner with an unstoppable strike.

The game was flipped on his head in the 72nd minute when Rodrygo was played through on goal and held his nerve to finish before adding a third with a few minutes left on the clock.

Antonio Rudiger completed the scoring in injury time when the defender ghosted to the back post and volleyed home.
