Jaume Costa, Dani Rodríguez and Matija Nastasić reflect on our 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid

Find out what the trio had to say after a tough afternoon in the capital

Jaume Costa, Dani Rodríguez and Matija Nastasić spoke to the media after our 4-1 defeat at Real Madrid. Goals from Fede Valverde and Antonio Rudiger, in addition to Rodrygo’s brace, gave the champions the three points after Vedat Muriqi had handed us the lead in the first half. Find out what the trio had to say below:

Jaume Costa

"I think in the end we lacked a little bit of belief. We played a very good first half, defending very well. We had the best chances in the first half.

“In the end, one minute in this stadium can punish you. In the last minute of the first half we made several mistakes that cost us a goal.

“Real Madrid is a very good team that doesn't make mistakes, and from that point on, in the second half we held our own until they scored the second, and then from that point on, we fell apart.”

Dani Rodríguez

"Well, in the end we played a game that I think we played the way we wanted to in the first half.

“It was a very physical match and in the end, we were very tired come the 60th minute. That's what comes with playing at this hour in this heat and this feeling of being overwhelmed."

"We knew we were going to have few chances. In the end we had three - football is a matter of accuracy and perhaps we lacked that. We have to be proud of our work, I'm proud of my teammates and of everything we've done.

“We know what Madrid is and we know what it's like to come here. It is something we have earned with the work we have put in over the past year. We deserve to come to these stadiums, but next weekend will be a different story."

Matija Nastasić

"We had the desire to come here, play and get a positive result. Before the match we were confident that we could get a point and maybe even three.

“But it was not enough. We have to think about the next match. We have to be a compact group and get points next matchday. In the end, I think the final score was a bit excessive. We defended very well, especially in the first half."

"I'm very happy to be at Mallorca and play for this club, I'm already thinking about the next match."
