Match Report: RCD Mallorca 1-0 Celta Vigo

Dani Rodríguez is on target as we return to winning ways

Dani Rodríguez’s 59th minute strike saw us return to winning ways as we overcame Celta Vigo 1-0 at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.

Javier Aguirre continued to rotate his side amid a hectic run of fixtures as Amath, Iddrisu Baba and Predrag Rajkovic were among those to return to the starting XI.

We started the stronger side and almost took an early lead when Dani Rodríguez climbed highest in the 14th minute to test Agustín Marchesín.

Rajkovic was called into action 10 minutes later and had to be at his best to deny Gabri Veiga’s fierce effort from outside the box.

Iago Aspas had an effort go wide of the post just before the break, but we headed into dressing rooms with the scoreline level.

The visitors came out of the blocks looking to take the game to us and had a flurry of chances within the opening five minutes of the second half.

We managed to weather the early storm before getting ourselves in front courtesy of Dani Rodríguez’s composed first-time finish following Pablo Maffeo’s cutback.

The visitors pressed for an equaliser late into the game, but our defence held firm to ensure that all three points stayed at home.
