Match Report: C.E Santanyi 2-0 RCD Mallorca B

Goals from Javier Castedo and Juan Martín 'Rubio' condemn our youth side to a difficult defeat away from home

RCD Mallorca B suffered a 2-0 defeat to C.E Santanyi as Javier Castedo and Juan Martín 'Rubio's' strikes either side of half-time proved to be the difference on a difficult afternoon away from home.

Manager Julián Robes made a host of changes to his side following Matchday 4’s 4-1 victory over UE Alcudia as Alex Quevedo, Ivan Bravo y Javier Albín replaced Leo, Marc and Adrián Montalban.

Heading into the fixture off the back of three consecutive wins, the first half got underway not lacking in competitiveness, and despite our best efforts to take an early leading during the opening exchanges, Castedo gave the hosts the lead in the 36th minute with an effort from outside the box which saw us head into the dressing room a goal down.

The restart picked up from where the previous 45 minutes left off, although our chances of staging a comeback were reduced when Martin extended C.E Santanyi’s advantage with 22 minutes left on the clock.

While we came close to pulling a goal back in the latter stages of the fixture, the locals’ defence remained resolute come the final whistle. The next generation of Mallorquinistas now face a break in the fixture calendar before hosting San Rafel.
