Martin Valjent: “We believe we can win against Levante UD and stay up”
The defender spoke to Play Red ahead of the first of our four remaining fixtures of the season against Los Granotas
Martin Valjent believes we can beat the drop as the season edges closer to its climax with just four games remaining - starting at home to Levante UD this Thursday evening.
Clashes with Los Granotas, Sevilla FC, Granada CF and CA Osasuna await us as five points seperates us from safety, although the central defender says he and his team-mates are feeling confident ahead of a visit from Paco López's side.
“We know our rival is very good,” he told Play Red. “They play nice football, have technique and speed – especially the wingers. We lost there 2-1, but we had a good game. We know that we'll have our chance to win this game.
“It’s very important to think about being precise and the small details as they are very important in this division. We will need to be focused and that will act as the foundation for our quality. We believe we can win this game.
“These four games are maybe the most important this season because now we don’t have any more time or chances to make mistakes. We have to try to do our best in these four matches. You never know, with a bit of luck, we can stay in this league. We still believe in our chances of staying up. For us, all fixtures are very important games for the club because there is a big difference between this league and the Segunda División. We know what to expect and we’re preparing everything to be on a good vibe and try to get points in these games. It’s so important to stay in La Liga."
Following the club's decision rename Son Moix the Visit Mallorca Estadi to help lessen the impact of COVID-19 on the local community, the defender is proud to represent a team taking social responsibility.
“I think the most important thing in this new and difficult situation on the island is how this is a place for locations and holidays. We know that these small things are very important, and it’s a big thing to re-name your stadium in order to help what is really the hub of these islands. It’s a big thing to do, but also very important and a nice. We’re proud that we can be represent this and play in a stadium which has one clear message: Visit Mallorca.”
