Luis García Plaza has issued a rally cry ahead our top-of-the-table clash with RCD Espanyol on Sunday afternoon.
With a four-point advantage over the visitors heading into Matchday 25’s game at the Visit Mallorca Estadi, the boss says his side must be brave to ensure all three points.
"If there is one thing that has been demonstrated from the beginning with this team, it is the line we have followed," he told journalists at his pre-match press conference. "We're going to have to run a lot and have personality on the ball. We're going to have to differentiate ourselves in those aspects. We have to be on the ball with personality and make them run. We also have to be very careful with their individuality and minimise them as much as possible. With the ball, we have to have personality.
"In terms of results, RCD Espanyol haven't had the best results in the last few games, but they have played very well. They have deserved better results. They have very important players. They are playing well. As of today, they are facing, from what the standings say, the best teams.
"If you told me 10 matchdays ago that we were going to be within two points of each other, I would have taken that without any doubt whatsoever. We have the option of finishing within two, five or eight points. If we win, we're nowhere near first place. And if we lose, nothing happens either. There's still a long way to go. Whatever happens, I'll be ok.”
With a fans having assembled a convoy to accompany the side to the stadium and show their support, the boss says he can’t wait to have fans back in the stands for games such as Sunday's hosting of RCD Espanyol.
"We are very grateful for what the fans do. The goal against Girona FC would have brought the stadium down. The players will thank them for it by giving their all. We're going to feel them all close to us.
"We are very excited and looking forward to this match. The second game will be more like the Segunda División. It will be similar to other years with the results. It will be very difficult to have the same results as in the first half of the season.”
