Luis García Plaza: ‘We’ve got less points than we deserve but we have to keep working’

The boss gave his thoughts on our 1-1 draw with Sevilla in his post-match press conference

Luis García Plaza spoke to the media after our 1-1 draw with Sevilla. Antonio Sánchez’s first-half goal was cancelled out by Erik Lamela prior to late VAR drama which saw the points be shared at the Visit Mallorca Estadi. Find out what the boss had to say below:

On the match…

"It would have been very unfair to lose this match in which we played an incredible 80 minutes, putting on a show with nine players who played in the Segunda Division last season. We had a great team in front of us and we didn't deserve to lose.

"We played an incredible 60 minutes - it was a spectacle. It's true that they wear you down and they pin you in because they are very good. The team has taken far fewer points than it deserves, but we have to keep working.”

On the team…

"We have gone through three late goals and have lost two of them. This will continue to be tough until the end, there is no other option but to keep going. If we keep the average number of points we have in eleven games, we will be saved.”

On the fans…

"At home we have to score as many points as possible. Last year they would have enjoyed this team a lot, so we have to thank them for the support they have shown us.”
