Antonio Raíllo: ‘I’m starting to see light at the end of the tunnel’

The defender spoke to club media after his ankle surgery in Barcelona

Antonio Raíllo believes he is on the road to recovery after successfully undergoing ankle surgery in Barcelona.

The defender received a round of applause on the 21st minute having struggled this season with the setback, and having watched our 1-1 draw with Sevilla from the hospital, says he can’t wait to get back to work.

“The operation went perfectly,” he told club media. In the end it was a little longer than expected, but there won't be any problems in the recovery and the expected timetable will be maintained. I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

"It's been a complicated few months. I had a lot of discomfort and I felt that the injury was not going well. We have done many tests and we had not found the key. It was a very difficult injury to see and after visiting a specialist in Barcelona they told me that the best thing to do was to operate.

"I have received many messages of support from the fans. I want to thank you and tell you that soon I will be fighting again.”

The defender has been watching our games this season from the sidelines and also gave his thoughts on the current form.

"It's hard to assimilate the feeling of being superior to the opponent and that it's not enough to get the victory. We have to continue in the same line and not lower our arms. Positive results will come sooner rather than later.”
