Luis García Plaza: ‘We have done more things well than poorly’

The boss gave his thoughts on the season so far in his pre-match press conference ahead our hosting of Sevilla

Luis García Plaza says he is happy with how the season has gone so far ahead of our hosting of Sevilla FC on Wednesday evening.

Sitting in 12th place with 12 points from 10 games, we head into matchday 11 with the boss looking to return to winning ways having dropped points late on in our previous two fixtures.

"I think we have to be mentally very strong and make the right decisions,” he told journalists at his pre-match press conference. “We went to San Sebastian and Valencia and faced them toe-to-toe. We are an inexperienced team, but that gives us a lot of good things.

“We go to any stadium to try to win. The final minutes are things that we have to correct and I feel bad for the players for having returned from Anoeta and Valencia with only one point after a good game.

"So far, we have done more things right than wrong. I'm happy with the team and I think we should take more points. We are building a team of the present but with a lot of future.”

Sevilla head into the match among the teams to have conceded the least amount of goals this season, and Plaza believes his side will have to be at their best to get a result.

"Sevilla is a great team with a coach who has vindicated what a great coach he is. He has a very complete team. Until the last matchday they had only conceded three goals.

“They are a team that can fight for the title. They are competing on equal terms with Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. We will have to play very well to win.”
