Luis García Plaza: “I’m not bothered if we’re top, it’s important we keep getting points’

The boss spoke to the media in his post-match press conference after our win over FC Cartagena

Luis García Plaza spoke to journalists via a remote post-match press conference after we overcame FC Cartagena 2-1 to extend our unbeaten run to 13 games and move top of the table. Find out what the boss had to say below:

On the game...

"We have had to grow into the game little by little. They closed us down well and we had to insist opening the scoring. When a team goes behind, it's difficult to get a hold of them. In the last five minutes we had to have more of the ball and this is going to be difficult. Teams are working very hard. I don't care about the leader, the important thing is that we keep getting points."

"In the first half we were pressed, in the second half we were not. They have done a lot of defensive work which made it very difficult for us, and with that you need a lot of patience. You have to wait there until the spaces come out without forgetting to cover.”

On the players...

"Baba's card depleted things slightly. Murilo is picking up to the pace of things, and like I’ve always said, using almost everyone allows us to play as we do. I'm happy for everyone and we have to keep working. Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta is having an exceptional season. We have a variety of players and they’re all doing well. We’re a team and we work hard to make sure everyone excels."

On Maradona’s death...

"The World Cup in Mexico brought me closer to football. It's a shame and a pity - may he rest in peace. Let's enjoy the videos and the legacy he has left us.”
