Lago Junior has signed a new long-term contract with RCD Mallorca that will run until 2023.
The left winger joined the club three years ago and following back-to-back promotions, says there is no place he would rather be than San Moix.
“I’m very happy and I feel fortunate to be able to start at the club that gave me the opportunity to achieve my objective and dream: to play in the first division,” says Lago. “For me, the most important thing is happiness. I have my family here, my daughter was born here and we are all so happy.
“I told the club I would not negotiate with anyone and in Mallorca is where I wanted to continue. I did not want to hear any other offer and wanted to stay here - now it has happened.”
Featuring 44 times and scoring 11 goals during the last season’s promotion push, the Ivorian is keen to build on what he regards as the standout moment of his career and push for a place in the international side following his contract extension.
“The best moment of my career was the promotion last year - my hairs are on end just thinking about it,” he continues. “It was incredible to enjoy and I will always remember the way Abdòn struck the winner and the speed of the ball as I was behind him.
“I had the best season of my career and I did it working with Vicente Moreno - he’s been one of the best coaches I’ve worked with. I’m going to give 100% this year for the possibility of earning a place in the national team.”
