Javier Aguirre: “We are alive”

The boss shared his thoughts after our goalless draw against Sevilla FC

The boss was on post-match press conference duties after our goalless draw against Sevilla FC. Find out what the boss had to say below:

On the match…

"We came here as a victim and the team showed up today. We knew how dangerous the opposing team was - they are very powerful. The point is good for us because we suffered a lot. I am happy because the team has recovered. We are alive. There are two finals left and we have to play for it.

"The draw is stays there - they had chances. The point is good for our morale and bad for the table. The dressing room is now liberated, let's see if we can sleep well, because these days have been very hard."

On what's left…

"The mood was complicated. There were crestfallen players. It was a tough night. Seven times they shot and they scored six goals. All of that after a such a reception from the fans, and you leave like that. You want to go in like an ostrich. We had to show our other side, and today we fulfilled that requirement. We are indebted to the fans. I hope they come and I hope they go.”

On Manolo Reina…

"He was the only one who was missing to play with me. I have 23 players and they have all played. When there is a good group, they are all at a good level. People train well. Everyone contributes with their personality. Kubo doesn't shout, but so what? Manolo is a guy who always talks, who spreads his joy. He has been through a thousand battles. That leadership is what he expects on the field.”
