RCD Mallorca femenino is launched

Our club will for the first time have a women's side

RCD Mallorca are delighted to announce the launch of our women's team ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The time has come to take that step and it will be with a women's team in the Alevín eight-a-side category.

Alfonso Díaz, CEO of Business at RCD Mallorca, said: "I think it was about time. We have been working for years for the club to be stabilised and more solid in the First Division in order to continue growing as an entity. And something that was really pending was to have a women's team.

"We have always said that when we do a project, it was going to be a serious one, with a good team behind it within the club, training in the same facilities, with its own staff of coaches, physios, nutritionists, psychologists... It has to be another team within the football structure of the club."

A long-term project

It is a step that RCD Mallorca is taking ‘firmly, with great enthusiasm and excitement’ and one which we are building for the long term.

Pablo Ortells, sporting director said:"We are going to start with girls in order to start training under the umbrella of the grassroots football structure, including everyone there, following the same lines."

Academy director Miquel Toni Gelabert added: "the idea is to start with a grassroots team in the Alevín category and little by little grow with another team in the structure’. In this way, Gelabert has indicated that ‘as we can grow in terms of resources, facilities and as the club in general grows, the idea is to move in a five or six year plan with a solid structure of women's grassroots football and even a women's first team. I think the club will do a great job in this sense because we have a very big social responsibility. I think it will have an impact on the island."

The new project is to begin training at the Ciutat Esportiva Antonio Asensio in August, along with the rest of the club's grassroots categories. The 8-a-side competitions will begin in October.
