Javier Aguirre: I have nothing to reproach the players over

The boss reflected on our 3-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid

Javier Aguirre was on post-match media duties after our 3-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid. Rodrigo de Paul, Alvaro Morata and Yannick Carrasco secured the three points for the visitors after Nastasić had given us an early lead. Find out what the boss had to say below:

Javier Aguirre

"It was a complicated match for us. The idea is to certify our survival as soon as possible and for everyone to play, feel important and participate.

"In five minutes, the game changed for us. We were leading; then it was 1-1; and the second half started almost at 2-1. You don't even have time to react. Then the third goal was the result of our lack of focus and bad decisions. We have to congratulate our opponents. They were better and that's it.

"I can't say anything to the players. I have nothing to reproach them for. In fact, I told them that now. It's what we have - it's our level. We have three complicated weeks of suspensions, injuries... We are out there trying to make everyone feel important.

"We made a kind of variation to have fresh people and make everyone feel important. It didn't go well today, I hope it will on Monday."
