The boss reflected on our 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad
Javier Aguirre spoke to the media after our 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad. Mikel Merino’s early strike gave the hosts the win. Find out what the boss had to say below:
On the match:
"I am proud of them since I arrived, we have been getting to know each other. They are an honest, humble, hard-working and serious team. The results have not been with us, but I think that, in the last matches against Barça, Sevilla, Elche or here, I think we have improved a lot. It is true that out of the ten matches we have played, we played against the top six; the first six and that has gone against us but we are in the fight".
On the goal disallowed to Amath:
"The goal is very good and well taken by Amath. I believe that the VAR is always there to do justice, the only thing I have my doubts about is when the VAR is used and when the VAR is not. There is a lot of insistence on VAR, I think. That's the only doubt I have with the VAR, who decides.”
On the players:
"I'm going to tell them the same as I did after Barcelona, Sevilla, Elche - that I'm proud of them, that we continue to grow, that we are a humble hard-working team. We are a good family and that is what will take us forward, work, affection, effort, we are a hard-working team.”
