Gio González and Omar Mascarell analyse our 1-0 win against CD Tenerife

Find out what the duo had to say about our victory

Gio González and Omar Mascarell were on post-match media duties after our 1-0 win against CD Tenerife in the Copa del Rey. Find out what the duo had to say below:

Gio Gonzalez

"The effort of the whole team is incredible. I think that insisting and not giving up gave us the prize at the end. Even though it wasn't necessary to suffer so much, sometimes it's nice to win in this way.

"In the last few plays we were trying to pass the ball into the box and luckily the ball came to me so that I could give it to Cyle so he could put it in.

"We are taking it step by step, I always say it, the excitement for this competition is intact since this cup began. For us it is very important and we know that for the club as well. Now we have a very important match in the league and we will try to make it three out of three, as lately we have been getting a lot of draws.

"That's very important, that's what we live on. We know that if we keep a clean sheet at the end we have some. After that, we have to be effective in the opponent's area as well.”

Omar Mascarell

"It was a very intense match, Tenerife played very well and forced us to do our best. The team played very well, defended very well and I think we competed as we had to compete in a stadium like this and in the end we were rewarded.

"After a whole match, also with extra time, fighting and working, and to have that reward at the end is well deserved because at the end in the last minutes we went for the match and we were fortunate to score that goal.

"You can't always play spectacular football, there are good days and bad days. We may not have been at our best footballing level, but we have competed and worked hard. Whoever plays in this team gives 100%.”
