Match Report; RCD Mallorca 1-1 RC Celta

Mateu Morey scores our first goal of the new season as we register a point

We were held to a 1-1 draw against RC Celta as Mateu Morey's dramatic late equaliser opened the scoring for our new season.

Jagoba Arrasate named Leo Roman as his No.1, Takuma Asano took position on the right wing and Mateo Joseh was handed his first start since joining this summer on loan.

Leo Roman had to be at his best to deny Ilaix Moriba in what was one of the clearer early changes with our shot stopper getting down well to parry a fierce drive from distance in the 15th minute.

Javi Rueda gave the visitors the lead in the 38th minute when he raced in behind and lifted the ball over the on-rushing Leo Roman.

The goal was the final action of note in a first half with little between both sides as we headed into the dressing room with it all to do in the second half.

We started well after the break as Martin Valjent tried his luck from distance although his deflected shot was unable to find its way into the bottom corner.

Mateu Morey had his first sight of goal in the 70th minute when he was afforded space from 25 yards out to unleash an effort heading towards the top corner, although he was denied by Ionut Radu's acrobatic save.

The visitors had a late chance to put the game beyond doubt when a quick counter ended with a combination of passes and a driven cross going wide of the post.

With just minutes left on the clock, Mateu Morey found himself in the right place at the right time to capitalise on a loose ball in the box and find the top corner to ensure the points were shared as we now prepare for a trip to face Real Madrid.
