Dani Rodríguez, Amath and Gio Gonzalez analyse our 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad

The trio reflected on our defeat in San Sebastian

Dani Rodríguez, Amath and Gio Gonzalez spoke to the media after our 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad. Mikel Merino’s early strike gave the hosts the win. Find out what the trio had to say below:

Dani Rodríguez:

"For us to get a point here today would have been awesome. I think the team has done an incredible job. We all have to be happy with what we have done, but it is true that we are annoyed because we lost a point.

"We have limited a strong side at their home. An opponent that is fighting to get into the Champions League. That says a lot about the team, about how they are growing, about the way they play. Whoever plays, they are being competitive - we have to keep that in mind. I know it's hard to get something positive out of a defeat, but I'm convinced that, playing like this, having such clear ideas, we're going to get a lot out of it and achieve our objective.”

Amath Ndiaye:

"I'm very proud to play again and score. I congratulate the whole team, they did a great job. We had a goal disallowed which for me wasn’t even a foul. It wasn't even my intention to foul him. I think it was him jumping on me and hitting me. I think the goal should have stood, with all due respect.

"We go out every game to compete. It was a difficult match, a difficult place to come to. We have keep working and fighting. Now we have to think about the next match against Valencia.”

Gio González:

"After several months, it was my turn to return to the team. Personally, I'm happy to get back to playing minutes and the truth is that I needed it. I had to wait patiently for my chance. So I'm personally happy, but obviously sad about the result.

"I think that, in the end, it's the small details that are hurting us. We’re having good games and standing up to any team. We’re a tough team for all the opponents we have faced but I think we lack those details. I think that being convincing in the penalty areas is the way to get points. What stood out was the team's attitude and desire to go for it until the end, when the score is against them. That is also worth highlighting.”
