Fernando Vázquez spoke with the press after Mallorca´s important victory over Tenerife and highlighted that the triumph “is more than three points, it is a result that will propel us. It is a tail wind” and so, even though the team has not yet reached salvation, “winning helps our next game. The pressure is now on the other teams tomorrow.”
The coach, in this sense, recognized that the last few days the team “was very stressed. It seemed as though we were on the bank of a big river without a bridge to get across” and he appreciated the work of his players, “they handled the pressure well.”
For the Galician, the key to the game was “success” and said that his team fought off Tenerife, who happens to be “a very difficult opponent because they know how to play with the ball. But we played good defense, we did concede some counter-attacks, especially in the first half, but we controlled them well. We were better than them,” he found.
Vázquez also tipped his hat to the confidence that the result will give to group “we are not guaranteed of winning the next game, but the team knows the path that we have to take. We must conduct ourselves profoundly, with the same determination that we had at home.”
Lastly, he commented that in the dying minutes of the game “lasted forever” even though he was confident of victory, “the team is good and can be trusted,” he concluded.
