Arnau Tenas didn't need long to be convinced RCD Mallorca was the right move for him.
Tenas shared his thoughts on his first impressions, conversation with the Luis Garcia and objectives in an interview with club media. Find out what he had to say below.
How are you feeling?
To be honest, I’m really happy to have made this decision. It’s a very important decision for me. It didn’t take me long to say yes; I didn’t hesitate for a moment. I was aware of the project they had in place; I knew the team needs to be where it belongs, which is in the top flight, and I’ll do everything I can and give my all to ensure this club is where it should be.
Why did you choose to come to RCD Mallorca?
I’ve got real friends here. Especially Pablo Torre, Arnau Puigmal, Jan (Virgili) and Mateu Morey, who I’d also played with at Barça… I’ve got an incredible relationship with them. I kept asking them how they were getting on, what it was all like, and they didn’t say a single thing that made me hesitate about coming. They’ve known me since I was very young and they kept saying: ‘Come on, come on, you’re going to have a great time, it’s going to be a brilliant year and we’ll be really happy to have you here.’ And with the manager, a three-minute phone call was all it took for me to make up my mind. It was a quick and clear conversation. I got a really good feeling from it; it was very clear what he wants and what I want too. So, without a doubt, it’s Mallorca for me.
What can Arnau Tenas bring to the team?
I can bring character and personality. I’m someone who doesn’t shy away from anything. In terms of my playing style, I’d say I’m a very quick, agile goalkeeper. I always like to help my teammates however I can. I’m also very comfortable playing with my feet and playing the ball out from the back... I’ll be happy to help in any way possible to make the team better. And, above all, I’m always fully committed to my teammates.
What message would you give to the fans?
The first thing I’d say to the Mallorca fans is to stay calm, because these kinds of things happen in football. One day you’re here, the next you’re there, but I think this needs to be a year where we really need the fans. They need to be our support system—both on and off the pitch, day in and day out. I’m someone who really likes communicating with the fans and feeling close to them, especially given my position in goal. I’d tell them not to worry, because—on our part, and especially on mine—we won’t lack the drive to get the team back into the First Division.
