Alex Sala: "It's an important step for me"

The midfielder spoke to club media after meeting his new team-mates

Alex Sala isn't waiting around to get started.

Having signed his contract on Wednesday, Alex has got straight to work and joined his first training session with his new team-mates. He also met with club media - find out what he had to say below.

How do you feel about signing for RCD Mallorca?

I’m very happy. I think it’s a very important step for me. I see it as a wonderful personal challenge and I believe everything will turn out just as we all want it to.

Why did you choose RCD Mallorca?

For me, it’s a challenge to join a top-flight club and the main objective is to get the club back into that division.

And on a personal level, what are you hoping to get out of this spell?

To contribute as much as possible to the team and always be ready to help out as much as I can.

How did your first training session and your first meeting with the team go?

Very well, I felt very at ease. I’ve found the dressing room to be a really close-knit group and they’ve helped me a lot right from day one. I’m settling in bit by bit.

Did you know anyone from previous years?

I spent a month with Adri Fuentes. I recognised them all from having seen them before, but I did have a slightly closer relationship with him. He’s told me a bit about his first impressions since arriving and everything’s been very positive. He’s very happy.

And how are things with Luis García?

Very good. We had a chat and he gave me a bit of an idea of what he was looking for.

How would you describe yourself as a person and as a player?

I know where I come from and I consider myself a hard worker. As a player, I’d describe myself as an attacking midfielder with a good shot, good movement and always ready to help the team.
