Aleksandar Trajkovski says he can have a positive influence on the side ahead of the remaining nine La Liga games which await us.
Facing a hectic fixture schedule which will see us in action almost every 72 hours, the inside forward believes rotated players will get more of a chance stake a claim in the starting XI.
“Playing games every three days, I think in this situation I think everyone is going to get their chance to play and prove themselves,” he told Play Red. “I hope I get this chance. I haven’t played so much this year, so I’m just waiting for my chance. I’m confident and I always do my best. I always go at 100% in training and also in games when I get the chance. I think now is the opportunity for not just myself, but other players who haven’t played so much this season."
Making 11 appearances so far this season, Trajkovski believes fans are yet to see the best of his abilities since moving to the club on a free transfer at the start of the campaign.
“When you look at this year, I haven’t had so many opportunities,” he said. “When you don’t give as many opportunities to players, you don’t know if they are going to get into the rhythm to play and then it’s difficult. Many just need to take the chance when they play. I still haven’t had the chance to start a game for the starting XI. I’m just waiting for my chance and my opportunity. I hope supporters that are expecting something from me, that I’ll give it. I’m going to try and give my best because you can see I had a good season last year. When I came here, it’s a new club and everything is new. I didn’t play so much, but I’m still very focused. When I get my chance, I will have to prove myself - that’s football.”
Having survived a relegation battle at former club Palermo on the final day of the 2015-16 Serie A season, the North Macedonia international has experience in beating the drop.
“That first year at Palermo, I was like 23 years-old and I was like one of the youngest,” he said. “There were a lot of players with more experience and some really good players. They start to to tell that everything is going to be fine and to play your game. They told me to think that it wasn’t my last game, and to just play my game. I try not to put so much pressure on myself. I was still young and I didn’t have so much experience because Serie A is a big competition like La Liga also. I was young and I said I would just play my game like the others and it was a really good experience. I learned a lot. You have to play without pressure, prepare for every game that comes and just do what the coach says in terms of his ideas and training. Don’t think about what will happen, that’s what I learnt.”
