Vicente Moreno spoke to the media following our disappointing 1-1 draw with CD Leganés at Visit Mallorca Estadi. The manager reflected on the team’s performance, squad rotation and where that leaves us in the table. See what he had to say below:
On the performance…
"We were very motivated going into the match as this was a very important game. When we are so close, it has escaped us. It’s true that we’ve not had our best game, but we came into this on the back of playing good fixtures. We’ve not been comfortable during the game. We thought they were going to play with five at the back, and if Raillo had been there, we too would have played with five at the back. We were conscious of how they play. We were aware that there was a possibility of them getting crosses into the box, but since they have not been dealt with, more came in and it made things uncomfortable.
“We’ve not played like other matches and it was not our best game. When you get to the end, you have be decisive and at that time the feeling did not sit well with us. Today we’ve not been right in that sense and we’ve given away foul that has cost us a goal. A draw is not considered a good result. We have got to the final part of the game and we were winning, but we have not been capable of getting the result. Like I already said in Villarreal, the result is what it is and today I thought that we could get the three points.”
On the team’s situation…
“Not winning today has been difficult, but we will carry on a point ahead of CD Leganés, but having not won today, not getting two more has made things difficult. This now forces you to win all remaining home games and recover from today’s result by winning away from home. You have to believe and you have to work hard. We'll go week by week to try to add more points.
"The dressing room is frustrated and angry. Those final moments took the animation out of us. We needed to win; it’s always like that. Tomorrow there will be fewer games for us and we will go into Wednesday’s game motivated to win. There’s not a lot of time to think and we will have to go to get the victory in Madrid. In such circumstances, you have the obligation of to fight for everything. It's impossible for players to play 90 minutes, three games a week. Those minutes add up and we need all players to be at 100 per cent. If the players contribute, they’ll play.”
