Xisco Campos inducts this year’s Fútbol Base captains

The academy graduate discussed the importance of good leadership before handing out armbands at the Son Bibiloni ceremony

Xisco Campos helped induct this year's Fútbol Base captains at an annual Son Bibiloni ceremony.

The former academy player discussed the significance of being a leader and representing the club with players from the Benjamines right up to RCD Mallorca B before handing out armbands.

“Being a captain is an opportunity team-mates give you, they pick you,” Campos said. “We have to repay this confidence from the team by being an example and doing everything to help the team. The values are transmitted day-to-day by small actions. It’s an opportunity and a challenge, but for me it’s an honour to be captain of the first team and having been captain in the youth system.

The central defender further underlined the importance of being a role modern to team-mates and taking on the responsibility of representing the club both on and off the pitch during his chat with the Futbol Base.

“Capitan are a little reference for others, but at RCD Mallorca, we represent all the players that form a part of the club. We represent this historic entity and we must be proud to be here.”

In attendance was our new Academy Director, Sergio Vallecillo, who considered the positive effects having a role model like Campos present can have on aspiring youngsters.

“We are working with comprehensive set of teams in the academy and at this point of reflection, Xisco is a clear example of what we believe must be our model athlete at RCD Mallorca," said Vallecillo. "The fact is he has shown that and has represented us on the pitch, shown how to live and coexists day to day with those at Ciudad Deportiva is a clear example of what values should be important to us.”
