Vedat Muriqi, Omar Mascarell and Mateo Joseph spoke to the media after our 2-1 defeat at Elche. Find out what they had to say below:
Vedat Muriqi:
On the defeat: We had the chance to draw the match at the end with a penalty I took, but I took it terribly. I feel bad for all the fans who came all the way here; I would have liked to give them a point. That’s football, and I’ll keep bringing joy to our fans.
On what lies ahead: I’m happy with the whole squad. We’ll keep going, give it our all, and go for more points.
Omar Mascarell:
On a tough blow: Quite a tough one. We took the lead, we were playing well, and then it slipped away from us down to small details. I made a poor clearance for their first goal, but the team never stopped fighting. It wasn’t to be today, but that’s how we’ll achieve our goal.
On holding onto the lead: I think if we’d managed to hold onto the 0-1 lead for longer, it would have been different; the equaliser came very quickly. Even at 2-1, we could have drawn it level. I’ll take the team’s effort.
On keeping going: It’s a shame we couldn’t give the fans a win. The team will give it their all right to the end. I’m sure we’ll achieve our goal 200%.
Mateo Joseph:
On the defeat: It’s a difficult moment. We have no choice but to work hard and try to improve.
On details: I think their goal came very close to ours and that gave them a boost. We’ll try to improve in those moments when we concede and struggle to react properly.
On the break: I have a lot of confidence in the team and now, with the break, we have time to work with the manager. There will be more wins and we’re looking forward to the next match.
