Vázquez: “We have to win at Valladolid, and we will do it"
The coach regrets that Mallorca will now have to depend on other teams´ results
RCD coach Fernando Vázquez spoke to the press after the game against Córdoba and noted that Mallorca now has only one option, “win at Valladolid. I am convinced that if we win, we are in the second division. We have to win, and I am confident that we will do it.” In that regard, the coach recognized that even though Mallorca has lost the advantage relying on itself, “there is no fear in the locker room, just concern.”
The Galician remembered that other opponents fighting relegation also “have tough games” and reiterated that he is confident of winning at Valladolid. That said, he revealed that “now the team is not doing well. But we only have one thing to do. We have to face up and give absolutely everything we have in the next game.”
In the defeat to Córdoba, the coach commented that his team was not able to press high-up the field “because we played long” and he lamented that his team allowed counter-attacks, “from our anxiety they were able to advance and, thus, we controlled very little of the play. They are a dangerous opponent and we did not have the weapons to overcome that.”
Finally, Vázquez emphasized that, even if the first half was equal, “in the second half, the other team pushed and pushed well. And we had the same problems that we have had all year, problems of creativity and clarity up front, problems of creating chances.”
