RCD Mallorca hosts Werder Bremen and AC Monza over the winter break

The two sides used our training facilities to better prepare for their return to domestic football

RCD Mallorca welcomed Bundesliga side SV Werder Bremen and Serie C outfit AC Monza to Ciudad Deportiva Antonio Asensio over the winter break.

The two clubs used our facilities to better prepare for their return to domestic football before playing one another in a friendly fixture open to the public, ending in a 2-2 draw.

“The facilities are practically perfect,” said SV Werder Bremen manager, Florian Kohfeldt. “The pitches are in very good condition, as are the gym, sauna and indoor swimming pool. Not being luxury but very functional is what I like. We don’t need luxury, we need functional facilities at the highest level.

“Being January, the weather has been incredible and on top of that, we are staying in a good hotel which is 10-12 minutes away from the training ground. It won’t be the last time we come here. It has been important to face another team of quality. It’s good that we have more teams here to have as much possibility to play.”

Having also hosted Argentina's national side earlier this year, Ciudad Deportiva Antonio Asensio's modern installations have become a popular choice for teams to better prepare during the off-season and international breaks.

“It has been a couple of perfect days, in a training ground very beautiful, with good pitches, a good structure in place and good weather,” AC Monza manager, Cristian Brocchi said. “It’s a very important club and you can feel that it is well organised. We're happy having come here over these days.”
