RCD Mallorca comeback to win 2-1 against C.E Santanyi

Jaume Tovar and Dani Ribelles were on target to ensure our unbeaten start to the season rolls on

RCD Mallorca came from a goal down to maintain their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-1 victory over C.E Santanyi at Son Bibiloni.

While monopolising possession during the opening exchanges, Oscar Coll and Carlos Gilbert could only force visiting goalkeeper Mingo into a handful of routine saves.

Jaume Tovar’s curling effort on the half-hour mark eventually provided something more testing, but Julián Robles’ side headed into the break deadlocked.

Despite beginning the second-half with a flurry of shots on goal, the visitors took a shock lead against the run of play through Rubio after a defensive error on the 52nd minute.

Their advantage would only last three minutes however, as Tovar found the top corner from the edge of the box with a thumping effort.

The goalscorer then turned provider on the 66th minute having fired a low ball across the six-yard-box which substitute Dani Ribelles duly prodded home.

Coll came closest to adding the third when he volleyed against the post amid calls for a penalty, but we managed to see out a late surge from C.E Santanyi to claim a deserved three points.
