Pep Lluís Martí announced as the new head coach of RCD Mallorca B
The coach returns to the academy system he graduated from
We are delighted to announce that Pep Lluís is the new head coach of RCD Mallorca B in the Segunda Federación.
Having been promoted last season after a positive campaign in the Tercera Federación, Pep Lluís returns to the academy system he graduated from.
Having come up through the Bermellona youth system, he made his debut with RCD Mallorca during the 1996–97 season in a Copa del Rey match. After the 1999–2000 season, he continued his career with CD Tenerife, Sevilla FC, and Real Sociedad.
In 2008, Pep Lluís Martí returned to RCD Mallorca to begin a second stint that lasted until 2015. During those years, he became one of the team’s leading figures, served as captain, and embodied the club’s values both on and off the field.
He ended his career as a professional soccer player having worn the Bermellón jersey 221 times, with his final match coming in 2015 at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.
After retiring as a player, he began his coaching career and has managed teams such as CD Tenerife, Deportivo de La Coruña, Girona FC, CD Leganés, Real Sporting de Gijón, and UD Ibiza. His experience in professional soccer, combined with his knowledge of the club and the demands of competition, strengthens the reserve team’s project as it returns to the Segunda Federación.
With his arrival on the bench of the Bermellón reserve team, the club is bringing in a coach with a Mallorcan identity, experience, and a deep connection to the organization. Pep Lluís Martí now takes on the challenge of guiding the growth of young talents from the youth academy in a demanding and competitive division.
