We kicked off our pre-season today with the customary medical examinations at the Cardiology Unit of Juaneda Hospital Miramar.
As the club’s Official Medical Service—and after a decade of supporting the first team—Juaneda Hospitales is once again making its professionals, technology, and diagnostics available to RCD Mallorca to ensure the players’ health throughout the season.
The collaboration between Juaneda Hospitales and RCD Mallorca reflects a partnership based on shared values, such as caring for people, prevention, hard work, and excellence.
For decades, Juaneda Hospitales has maintained a firm commitment to health in the Balearic Islands and to supporting Balearic sports, supporting athletes and clubs with the same dedication to care with which it treats thousands of patients each year.
Following these tests at the Cardiology Department of Juaneda Hospital Miramar, the next step in the routine preseason physical will be blood tests, which will be administered at the Antonio Asensio Sports Complex by professionals from Juaneda Hospitales, with the aim of creating a comprehensive blood profile for each player.
These medical check-ups, as well as the provision of our medical professionals and technological equipment to the Club, are being carried out once again this year thanks to the sponsorship agreement with Mallorca’s top-flight team, renewed for the period 2024 to 2028, which makes Juaneda Hospitales the Official Medical Service of RCD Mallorca.
Dr Andrés Glenny, a cardiologist and specialist in sports cardiology at Juaneda Hospital Miramar, explains that the check-ups taking place over the next few days “consist of three basic tests: an electrocardiogram, an echocardiogram and a stress test, as well as a personal interview, to update each player’s medical history”.
The use of the three new AI-powered MRI scanners – the first of their kind in the Balearic Islands – which have been in service at Juaneda Hospitales since 2025, “represents a substantial improvement in testing, thanks to the higher precision of the diagnostic images; when complemented by in-depth knowledge of these conditions, they provide us with results of very high quality and diagnostic accuracy”.
With the launch of these medical check-ups, Juaneda Hospitales and RCD Mallorca reaffirm a partnership that has been consolidated over the years, based on trust, medical innovation and a shared commitment to health and sporting performance. This collaboration reflects Juaneda Hospitales’ commitment to promoting healthy habits.
Manu Morlanes
“With a fresh outlook, this is a year in which we are all aware of the main objective, and I think that from today onwards, those of us who are here already have our sights set on it. Today is the first day of medical tests, to check that everything is in order, and from Wednesday we’ll be out on the pitch, following the instructions of the new coaching staff and making sure it’s a great season.”
“I had a chance to speak with him (Luis García). To be honest, all the feedback I’ve had from players who’ve worked with him has been very positive. I think the teams he’s managed have a very clear idea of how they want to play, and personally I’m delighted to have a manager with that approach to football. I’m convinced that, together with the squad we have, we’ll all come together as a strong unit to achieve our goal.”
Mateu Jaume
“It’s true that we prefer the pitch, but coming here is also important to check that everything’s in order and to make sure we’re ready to get started.”
“I think the key is that we’re all together, that we work hard, that we enjoy what we do and that we support one another. I believe that if we do all that, we’re sure to have good news to report by the end of the season.”
Antonio Raíllo
“The main thing is to clear your mind, realising that you’re in a different division, that it’s a different style of play where you might have to take control, whilst being aware of the difficulties that entails. Ultimately, the Second Division is very professional. There are some very talented players, all with a strong ambition to reach the top flight, which is the First Division. I think we’ve been through it and we have the experience. Not just me, but the whole squad.”
‘I’ve spoken to him (Luis García), mainly about personal matters rather than football. I think that will certainly be discussed this week with me, Martin (Valjent), Abdón, Sergi (Darder) and Manu (Morlanes) – the current captains. From there, he’ll put forward his ideas, lay down his foundations, and our job is to ensure they’re carried out.’
Martin Valjent
“The Segunda Division is different from LaLiga, above all because it’s a very evenly matched league, where I think the key lies in the strength of the squad, team spirit, being in good physical and mental shape, and generating enthusiasm. That’s why I believe we have to do everything we can to get people excited again, and that means it’s up to us to make it happen.”
“I was lucky enough to speak to him (Luis García). I didn’t know him personally. Obviously, I was only familiar with his work as a manager and also his past as a player for the club. I’ve found him to be very enthusiastic, full of energy, extremely determined and raring to get started.”
Abdón Prats
“I think we have to approach this with the greatest possible enthusiasm, taking our cue from the year we spent in Segunda B, when we all pulled together to overcome a difficult situation. We have no choice but to take that as an example and hold up that mirror to ourselves. We must tackle this with the greatest enthusiasm and the greatest unity, because without that unity, no family – whether sporting or personal – can go far.”
