Match Report: Sevilla FC 0-0 RCD Mallorca

Manolo Reina is the hero of the evening as we hold out for a point at the Sánchez-Pizjuán

Our fight for survival continues as we were held to a goalless draw against Sevilla FC at the Sánchez-Pizjuán.

Manolo Reina made his return to the starting XI for the first time since January in replacing Sergio Rico, while Rodrigo Battaglia and Ángel also returned to the starting XI.

We almost got off to a nightmare start in the 10th minute when Salva Sevilla was forced to clear Rafa Mir’s strike from off the line during a goalmouth scramble.

Battaglia almost finished an incisive counter attack which he helped create when Vedat Muriqi played him through on goal, although the midfielder’s effort was saved by Bono.

The two chances were the highlights of the first half as we headed into the break deadlocked.

Reina had to be on his toes to deny Diego Carlos’ free-kick before the hour mark, while Muriqi tested Bono in the 65th minute when our forward climbed highest to force the opposition goalkeeper into a good save.

A flurry of late penalty shouts for both sides required VAR checks, although nothing was given despite protests from both dugouts.

Reina would prove to be the hero of the night when he first denied Anthony Martial in the 90th minute, before producing one of the saves of the season to tip Tecatito’s header over the bar.

RCD Mallorca: Manolo Reina Maffeo (Giovanni González, 97'), Antonio Raillo, Valjent, Brian Oliván, Antonio Sánchez (Grenier, 88'), Salva Sevilla (Dani Rodríguez, 74'), Battaglia, Jaume Costa (Russo, 88'), Ángel (Take Kubo, 74'),  Muriqi
