Match Report: Osasuna 1-0 RCD Mallorca

We are unfortunate to fall short at the El Sadar

We were unlucky to fall to a 1-0 defeat against Osasuna at El Sadar as Aimar Oroz’s second-half goal was the difference at El Sadar.

The hosts started the stronger side with a flurry of early chances, although none of Osasuna’s attempts looked like troubling Rajkovic.

We had to wait until the half-hour mark before our first real sight at goal, although Jaume Costa was unable to get Pablo Maffeo’s in-swinging cross on target.

Clement Grenier was next to try his luck as the break approached, although his free-kick was comfortably saved by Fernández.

Ante Budimir threatened moments before half-time against his former club, although his effort was off target and we headed into the dressing rooms level.

Aimar Oroz gave the hosts the lead shortly after the restart when he raced in behind and found the back of the net from a tight angle.

Iddrisu Baba almost provided an instant response in the 48th minute, although his volley from 30 yards drifted just wide.

Osasuna continued to threaten in the second half as we looked to get in behind their resolute defence, but our efforts would go unrewarded as we slipped to defeat and now turn our attention to the Copa del Rey with a visit to Real Sociedad.
