Javier Aguirre says his side are excited to continue their cup run against Real Sociedad ahead of our Copa del Rey quarter-final fixture at the Anoeta.
We were unfortunate to slip to a 1-0 defeat the last time we faced the hosts in LaLiga, although our boss believes his side are up to the challenge against one of the hardest-working sides in the country.
"We are going to Anoeta and it will be a very complicated match,” Aguirre told journalists at his pre-match press conference. “I believe, without fear of being wrong, that Real Sociedad is the fittest team at the moment of all the teams in competition, both in the league and in the cup. Well, anything can happen in 90 minutes and we are very excited.”
The cup gives Aguirre the option to make a number of rotations as we enter a hectic fixture schedule, although he will be without Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta and Matija NastasiÄ.
"I have the starting XI defined and I will make rotations. The Copa del Rey is a competition that allows us to evaluate players who usually don't get minutes. Of course I'm going to move the team around because we have a complicated match against Celta Vigo three days later.
“We are understanding our system more and more, and we have more and more chances and we are making things complicated for the opponent more and more.”
