Martin Valjent and Jose Copete analyse our 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad

The pair reflected on where things went wrong as our Copa del Rey run came to an end

Martin Valjent and Jose Copete spoke to the media after our 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey as we crashed out in the quarter-finals of the tournament. Robert Navarro’s early strike proved to be the difference on the night in a tightly-contested fixture. Find out what the pair had to say below:

Martin Valjent

"In the first few minutes, they came out more intense than us and at these places you can't give anything away for a minute if you want to go through to the next round. In the second half I think it was very positive, the team came back, the intensity went up a lot and we also had some chances to score.

“For us the cup is over and we'll focus on LaLiga, but I think we competed at our best in every game, and that's the idea of this team. The important thing is the reaction in the second half. That is football and we have to continue with the dynamic of the second half.

"Celta Vigo are a team that has been scoring lately, that are doing well. We now have little time to rest, and we have to focus on that because on Friday an important battle awaits us.”

José Copete

"In the first half we should have entered the match a little better. We were affected by the fact that the goal came so quickly. We lacked a little and should have been more attentive to the second plays, things that we corrected in the second half and we did quite well.

“We were close to getting the equaliser, but if you're not effective in the box, and Real Sociedad, with the team they have, in the end they go through. It's time to lift our heads because on Friday we have a new battle at Son Moix.

"This does not stop now - we have to be ready. We have to rest quickly and be at our best for Friday. Celta Vigo are a direct rival with great players. It will be a difficult match, but we will use our weapons.”
