Manolo Reina has been voted La Liga Smartbank’s Player of the Month for October.
The goalkeeper’s form during the month saw him record seven consecutive clean sheets as he came close to breaking our club record for time spent without conceding by a matter of minutes.
“"I’ve very proud to receive such a big award, but it has been the work job of all my team-mates,” he told club media. “We must continue like this. In the end, keeping clean sheets gives you a chance to take all three points. The main thing is the team continues to get points, and if you continue like that, you normally go up.”
Having conceded just twice so far this season as of Matchday 11, our capitan was recognised for his stellar month with a trophy pitch side at the Visit Mallorca Estadi. La Liga released the following statement in regards to October:
“The shot stopper has not only made great saves worthy of merit, but has conceded just once in the six games played. He didn’t stop there however and has managed to keep clean sheets in five of the six games he’s faced. His quality and experience is at the service of the team and that has manifested itself in the results of the team at the disposition of RCD Mallorca.”
