Franco Russo: ‘We want to extend our good run against Girona FC’
The centre back spoke to journalists at a press conference ahead our trip to Estadi Montilivi
Franco Russo hopes we can continue our run of good from with three points against Girona FC this Saturday evening.
Unbeaten in our last 10 games domestically and having conceded on just two occasions, the defender believes consistency to team performances will be the key to a successful season.
“The team is in a good dynamic and we’re taking advantage of that,” he told journalist via a remote press conference. “I think the team has been doing things really well to get there and deserves it.
"We’ve only got two goals against us and keeping clean sheets are very important to getting good results, but that work starts with the strikers.”
Having made over 30 appearances last season out on loan at SD Ponferradina following a debut campaign at professional level with the club, Russo says he’s feeling more comfortable than ever – especially having heard manager Luis García Plaza praise his central defensive unit.
"We’re very pleased the coach said that RCD Mallorca has the best four [centre backs] in the division," he continued. "I think it's very flattering and that helps us perform better. Personally, I have more confidence than the first year I was here, which was my first year in Segunda División and I found a team which was already together. Last year was very good for me and getting experience. The truth is that we have a very good team and there is a lot of comradery.”
