Luis García Plaza: ‘We have to give our best to stay at the top’

The boss spoke to journalists at his pre-match press conference ahead of a clash with Girona FC

Luis García Plaza says nothing but our best will be enough to guarantee three points at Girona FC this Saturday evening.

We head to the Estadi Montilivi looking to extend our unbeaten run to 11 games, although the boss believes Los Blanquivermells are not to be underestimated despite their league position.

“The table is misleading,” he told journalists at a pre-match press conference. “They have played one less game. Girona FC is one of the teams with the best budgets and has enough players to do us harm. They have beaten Leganés and drawn with Almeria. We have to give our best to win. If we are able to win and they do not win the match they have pending we will put a bit of distance between us, although they will make us work to win.”

“Now we have a complicated fixture schedule. We will have little rest between matches with the league and the cup. We want to continue to add points. Getting points will allow you to be in those positions at the top and in the last few days we will see where we are.”

While our good form has left us in second position ahead of Matchday 12, García has stressed the importance of not getting complacent with so much football still to be played.

“There are still 31 games ahead of us,” he continued. “We will go through good spells as we are now and ones not as good. We must improve and continue to grow without losing what we are doing. We have a clear DNA. We are satisfied with the attitude of the players and the ambition they have.”
