Luis García Plaza: ‘You have to take risks – that’s our philosophy’

The boss looked ahead to our hosting of RCD Espanyol in his pre-match press conference

Luis García Plaza insists his side will not alter their playing style ahead of our clash with RCD Espanyol on Friday evening.

Undefeated in our opening two games, the boss is keen to see us build on an impressive start to the campaign.

"You have to take risks in the games,” he told journalists at his pre-match press conference. “You're going to lose some games, but in the general calculation it always comes out expensive. That's our philosophy with this team.

"As far as we are concerned, there is no rivalry with RCD Espanyol. We both had a great season and we matched them on points. We were three minutes short of winning the league. They had to get promoted and our performance surely surprised many.

"We need the support of our fans, their help and encouragement. Not only against RCD Espanyol, but all season long.”

With Take Kubo adapting to the squad following his return to the club, the boss says his side are fully focused on their next game ahead of the transfer window’s conclusion.

"Take does not need to adapt,” he added. “He has come to be important and his performance will determine his level of importance in the team. I'm delighted with him, but he has to perform like anyone else.

"We have the team to compete well, whatever happens at the end of the market. I'm not going to address anything about the transfer market. We have an important game against RCD Espanyol. When the market is over, I will evaluate it.”
