Kilian Jornet meets with more than 2.000 people at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix in our latest RCD Mallorca Business Club event

The event also saw Mateu Jaume Morey and Tòfol Castanyer speak with attendees

The RCD Mallorca Business Club held the latest instalment of its series of events on Wednesday evening, featuring a special day open to the public that drew more than 2,000 people to the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.

The guest of honour was the renowned mountain athlete Kilian Jornet, who gave a talk entitled “What drives us” at an event organised in partnership with NNormal.

Regarded as one of the leading figures in endurance sport, Jornet has conquered some of the world’s most demanding races, such as the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, the Western States 100 and the Hardrock 100, as well as winning multiple titles in the Ski Mountaineering World Cup and achieving historic feats such as his double ascent of Mount Everest in 2017 without supplemental oxygen.

The event began with the screening of a video reviewing some of the most notable milestones of his career, before giving way to a conversation in which the athlete shared personal experiences on effort, overcoming adversity and connecting with nature. During the discussion, he explained that in many of his extreme challenges, the emotional toll can be even greater than the physical one, highlighting the importance of understanding suffering as part of the process and learning to reconnect with the environment and with oneself.

The event also featured RCD Mallorca player Mateu Jaume Morey, with whom Jornet discussed injury management, the pressure of competing from a young age, and the importance of perseverance in professional sport.

In the second session, Mallorcan runner Tòfol Castanyer, one of the leading figures in Spanish trail running, joined them on stage. Both shared their thoughts on their relationship with the mountains, the risks involved in sport, and the need to act in line with values and respect for the natural environment.

The event also had a charitable aspect, as the proceeds were donated to the Fundació Reial Mallorca and the Kilian Jornet Foundation. With this event, the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix has once again established itself as a venue for major gatherings that bring together sport, business and society, whilst the RCD Mallorca Business Club continues to position itself as a leading forum in the Balearic Islands.
