Kang In Lee: "I can see I’m doing well, both physically and mentally"

The attacking midfielder reflects on his good start to the season

Kang In Lee has shared his thoughts on the secrets behind his good start to the new season.

Our attacker registered an assist in our 2-1 defeat to Real Betis last week and has been one of Javier Aguirre’s top performers across our opening two games, although the Korean is excited about the chemistry which exists throughout the squad – especially with his strike partner Vedat Muriqi.

"I feel that I am well, I feel that I am well both physically and mentally,” he told club media.  “But, in the end, the most important thing is for the team to get points and for me to add to the team to help more. I can give much more than now.

"We know how good Muriqi is at finishing. In the end, his physicality is very strong. He is very tall and has an incredible shot. We are getting to know each other little by little; last year we already knew him but now we know him better. This year, if we continue like this, better things will happen.

"The sensations are good, and if we keep working as we have been, I believe that the results will come. This year we have things clearer, both defensively and offensively.”

Having taken one point from our opening two games after a frustrating 2-1 defeat to Real Betis, Lee says he and his team-mates will be fighting for all three points this weekend against Rayo Vallecano.

"It was a moment when we needed a goal and it's a shame because, with that goal, we could have picked up one more point,” he continued. "With the stands closer, the truth is that it was very noticeable. In the end, this year, when we play at home, we will have a lot of good things.

"Rayo is an opponent that always competes, that has good and very fast players but we are ready to get the three points in Vallecas.”
