Javier Aguirre: “We are motivated to faced Rayo Vallecano”

The boss shared his thoughts ahead of our trip to Madrid

Javier Aguirre believes we will have to be at our best against Rayo Vallecano as our search for the first three points of the season continues.

Having being held to a goalless draw against Athletic Bilbao on the opening day of the season before being left frustrated by an unlucky defeat to Real Betis, the boss assessed this weekend’s opponents.

"They are a very serious team,” he told journalists at his pre-match press conference. “They will make it difficult for us. It will be a very demanding match because they play good football.

“It will be a match where they will have the initiative. They like to have the ball. We are not interested in a back-and-forth game, so we must try to maintain order and when we have the ball we must be daring as we were against Real Betis.”

The boss revealed that youth player Miquel Llabrés will be part of the senior squad to travel to Rayo Vallecano, while Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta has returned to full training after his ACL injury.

"Miquel has good ball control,” he continued. “He has a good personality. I don't know if he will have minutes, but he is a boy who is ready.

"Galarreta has been medically discharged, he is already under my orders. Now, what he has to do is to get into a rhythm on the pitch. He has been training with the team for 15 days. He's fine, and he's a very strong player.
