José Copete, Leo Román, Cyle Larin and Jagoba Arrasate reflected on our 1-0 defeat to FC Barcelona. Find out what the boss and our players had to say:
José Copete:
On the match: "The team worked quite well, we knew where we were coming from, that it was going to be difficult, that it was going to cost us a lot. I think Barça have a little bit more points than other years and it shows, because they are alive in all three competitions. I'll take the team's work, their attitude and their desire to give everything until the end. We've been in there, because in the end, at 1-0, you're always open to being able to get something positive; we didn't manage it, but that's fine. Let's rest and go on to the next game."
On chances: "We knew that against Barça we were going to have few chances but we had to take them, we had to be very sharp. They play very well with the offside line, we knew that. We tried but we didn't get it. I'm left with the work and effort of the team, this is what I want to see between now and the end of the season."
On Leo Román: "What better way to explain Leo's condition, right? He hasn't played for a long time, today, on a pitch like this... Leo's level shows what he is capable of. The truth is that we have two great goalkeepers and I, as a friend of his, am very happy for him.
Leo Román:
On his performance: "In the end it's complicated, if I'm not mistaken, I've not played for four and a half months, more or less, and it's difficult. I always try to stay focused, I try to be involved in training so that when these opportunities come up, I can take advantage of them."
On the match: "The truth is that, from the day I arrived in Mallorca, the fans have always had a special affection for me. I have also felt it for them and in the end it is something very nice, I thank them from the bottom of my heart, that in the good times they have supported me and in the bad times too. They have been there, I think they have always been on my side and I would like to thank them for that support."
On the opposition: "Barça are a steamroller, we knew that the match was going to be like this, not because we are Mallorca, but because we have seen them in Europe, in the league, in the cup... they are a team that crushes their opponents and I think we defend very well, we have brought that to the fore. We were lively throughout the game, in any play, in a set piece, we could have scored a goal, so I'm satisfied with the team's work and we'll keep going forward."
Cyle Larin:
On the match: "I think we fought the whole game, I think we gave everything we had. We were there the whole game, we kept fighting. Barça are a very good team, they keep the ball a lot and generate a lot of chances, I think we managed to stay focused on the game and that, despite the goal in the second half, we kept going and fought until the end."
On Dani Olmo's goal: "I think they have quality, he has quality, it was a good touch from him; he got the ball, he shot and unfortunately scored the goal. I think that even after that, we fought until the end, we kept trying until the last minute and I think that's the best we can do."
On his game: "I struggled on my own but I did what I could for the team. I kept the ball, I covered the spaces, all I could do was to fight until the end to help my team, to try to get a goal which unfortunately we couldn't. I think we gave everything and I think we gave everything and I think that's the best we can do. But I think we gave everything and we will continue to do so in the following games.
On back-to-back games: "It's not easy, but Barça play every three days, so... I think we did the best we could, we went out on the pitch and gave everything we had, now we have time to rest and prepare for the next game, which is very important to get points."
Jagoba Arrasate:
On the match: "We had to work hard, we struggled at times. Leo kept us in the game and, well, when you're only a goal behind you think that you can equalise at any moment. It's true that we finished very tired, even with ten players, but we were good. We had some strategic situations there, especially in the second half, that we could have equalised, and well, it's a pity that the hard work didn't pay off. It's a shame that our hard work wasn't rewarded, but we also had a great opponent in front of us who played a good game."
On the team: "I think that's in the team's DNA, to compete, to believe until the end. We started the game very well, with a clear chance and then at times, well, well. We weren't able to do what we had planned, but what we were able to do at times because the opposition outplayed us. But the team, if there's one thing they have, it's that they believe until the end, they compete, and today they showed it again."
On chances created: "Above all that disallowed goal, the two actions at the start with Antonio and the one by Raíllo that went just wide, but well done. We must also recognise that Leo played a great game and kept us in the game."
On Abdón: "It looks like it's a tough injury there in the calf. He's stuck and it was a shame, firstly because of the injury and then also because we had to play with one less player for the last few minutes."
