Javier Aguirre: “It is not going to be an easy game”
The boss looks ahead to our trip to Cádiz
Javier Aguirre expects Cádiz to pose a difficult challenge ahead of our trip to the south coast this weekend.
We will be looking to add further distance from the drop zone by building our 1-0 win against Celta Vigo last week, although Aguirre believes the hosts will not make life easy for us – especially as he will be facing a former colleague.
"We are a team that, like Cádiz, who don't have the ball for long,” he told journalists at a press conference. “They will come out for us at their place, they will have the initiative. We will try to stay together. They have a good game. They are a team whose points don't reflect how well they play. They do a lot of things well.
"I worked with Sergio González for almost two years at Espanyol: he was in the B team and I was in the first team. He is a coach that I like, he did a great job in Valladolid and he is doing it now in Cadiz. Both teams do more than what the numbers reflect. It's a good team, it's not going to be easy and we're going to suffer, obviously.
"We have 25 points and we have to do much more. We are in January and we are in the middle of the league. We must not relax. This team lives for that, if we don't get into the game intensely, we are vulnerable.”
